Can online schooling be as effective as traditional schooling for my child?Absolutely, In sha Allah! Online schooling offers a focused learning environment with fewer distractions and less social pressure, allowing children to concentrate better on their tasks compared to a traditional classroom setting. That said, parental involvement is key to ensuring your child thrives. Regularly checking on their progress and encouraging consistent participation can help them reach their full potential in the online school environment.
-
Is an online school best for my child? This is only something you and your child can figure out as its very dependent on the child’s character and the other alternatives. Some children do struggle with learning online and others thrive but الØمد لله we offer a free 2 day trial for those in doubt!
-
Which curriculum do we teach? We teach the British National Curriculum, whilst keeping inline with Islamic ethos and leaving out things that don't inline with it.
-
Will my child have homework?Yes, they will have homework usually once a week per each subject. All homework and assignments are posted on the Seesaw App and mentioned in class.
-
Can my child only attend 2 or 3 subjects or do they have to attend all of them?We advise all students to take part in all lessons however the price remains the same regardless of how many classes your child partakes in.
-
Does an online school technically mean my children are homeschooled?Yes, it does as your children are learning from home and it is perfectly legal in a lot of countries such as the UK, UAE and USA but you will have to check your countries regulations. Here are a few links with more info on home schooling in the UK, UAE and USA https://www.gov.uk/home-education if your based in the UK, https://u.ae/en/information-and-services/education/continuous-integrated-education/home-schooling- stream if your based in the UAE, https://www.homeschool.com/articles/state-homeschooling-laws/ if your based in USA, again, please check the rules in your country

Are there class rules? We are very strict when it comes to classroom adab and we expect the parents to have gone over classroom adabs before joining the school. We expect students to have respect for their teachers, by not calling out and instead raising their hand, not using a phone in the class (we encourage parents not to allow their children to use phone at this young age), no eating in class and no using the toilet (that should be done at break). Pupils must also show respect to their classmates at all times. Pupils will get rewarded for their good classroom adab ان شا الله. Parents will get a list of classroom rules in the information pack provided once you have enrolled your child.
-
Is there a uniform?Girls MUST wear a hijab from year 3 in shaa Allah as part of the uniform (any colour) and all students must make sure they are dressed modestly with no faces on their clothes.

-
What will my child need?Your child will need a laptop/computer/desktop with a good Internet connection, a desk and comfy chair, workbooks for each lesson and a pencil case with pens etc. ان شا الله

Which platforms are used for classes and communication? Our classes are conducted online using Zoom for live lessons. Do you prepare secondary school students for G.C.S.E's?We do prepare our secondary school students for G.C.S.E's, however please note that Al-Hikmah Kids Academy is not accredited to run GCSE/A LEVELS exams and parents are responsible to book the final GCSE exams with an official exam centre.
